Dr. Knox graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1982. After a residency in Internal Medicine at Yale-New Haven Hospital, she obtained her Masters in Public Health from Yale University School of Public Health with a specialization in Infectious Diseases. Dr. Knox completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology at Tufts-New England Medical Center under Dr. Marshall Kaplan, an international expert in liver diseases. She joined the staff of the Gastroenterology Division at Tufts-New England Medical Center in 1989 and was associate director of the Endoscopy Suite from 1993-1998. Dr. Knox has been involved in HIV/AIDS research since 1988 working both in Zaire and as Co-Project Leader of the Nutrition for Healthy Living Cohort at Tufts University School of Medicine. Her research interests are in the role of gastrointestinal function in HIV, liver disease in HIV, and nutritional status. She has published over 50 papers. Currently, Dr. Knox is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Tufts University School of Medicine where she is a member of the Nutrition/Infection Unit in the Department of Public Health and Family Medicine. Dr. Knox also serves as an Associate Director of the General Clinical Research Center at Tufts-New England Medical Center.
