Preventive Cardiology Programs
The heart center staff members use a multidisciplinary
approach to treat children and teens with hyperlipidemia (a high
level of fats in the blood, e.g., high cholesterol) and high blood
pressure.
Pediatric subspecialty physicians collaborate to design a treatment
program for each patient. The program is comprehensive, and many
hospital departments and services work together to provide care.
Services include:
- The outpatient laboratory
- Nutritional services
- Cardiopulmonary laboratory
- Noninvasive cardiac testing
- Ambulatory blood pressure monitoring
Emphasis is placed on nutritional and lifestyle changes,
education with supplemental literature, and institution of medical
therapy when necessary.
