The mission of the division of pediatric infectious diseases is to provide expertise in the diagnosis, management and prevention of pediatric infectious diseases, including antimicrobial therapy, appropriate use of microbiological and immunological tests, and immunizations. In addition to patient care, the division is actively involved in medical education and research.

Patient care services include inpatient consultation services and the following weekly clinics:

  • Lyme Disease (Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Thursdays, 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) Self referrals and all insurances are accepted.

  • Infectious Diseases Clinic (Thursdays) Appointments require physician referral in order to ensure coordinated care with appropriate primary care and other physicians.

  • Tuberculosis Clinic (Wednesday afternoons) The tuberculosis clinic is supported by the Rhode Island Department of Health and provides diagnostic and preventive services.

  • Immunization (Daily) offers immunizations for children who are not covered by health insurance. Appointments are not required, but a parent or legal guardian must accompany the child to be vaccinated.

  • HIV (Tuesday afternoons) The Pedi II Clinic for HIV infected children and adolescents is a collaboratively sponsored by Hasbro Children's Hospital and AIDS Care Ocean State. The clinic provides medical services to HIV-infected children and infants born to HIV-infected mothers.

  • International Adoption This clinic provides international adoption-related medical advice and consultations.
