Magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) is a type of MRI that uses a magnetic
field and pulses of radiowave energy to provide pictures of blood
vessels inside the body. Problems within the blood vessels that
restrict blood flow can be diagnosed with MRA, which allows imaging of
both blood flow and the condition of blood vessel walls. MRA is used to
look for aneurysms, clots, stenosis caused by plaque in blood vessels,
aneurysms or tears in the aorta, and stenosis of the blood vessels
leading to the lungs, kidneys, or legs.
