New system will improve traffic flow and increase payment options
Rhode Island Hospital has installed a new self-pay parking system,
designed to improve traffic flow and the overall parking experience for
patients and visitors. The new self-pay system is part of a larger
project to improve parking and wayfinding on the hospital campus.
The self-pay system, which went into effect on April 26, 2013, includes
seven conveniently located kiosks throughout the hospital campus in main
lobby areas, including: the main hospital building, the Ambulatory
Patient Center lobby, Jane Brown, Hasbro Children’s Hospital’s upper
lobby, the adult emergency department, the Medical Office Complex
building at 2 Dudley Street, and at Women & Infants Hospital.
Through the new system, patients and visitors will now be able to use
credit cards to pay for parking, in addition to cash. Validated parking
will still be accepted and can be submitted through the kiosks. Once
tickets are validated, patients and visitors will have 30 minutes to
exit the parking lot.
Self-pay parking joins the valet parking service already offered on the
hospital campus. Currently, patients coming to the Comprehensive Cancer
Center can valet their cars outside the Ambulatory Patient Center; there
is valet service for patients and families at the Hasbro Children’s
Hospital emergency department; and valet is available for patients with
handicap license plates or tags visiting the medical and surgical
offices at 2 Dudley Street.
Long-term and discounted parking also will be available. All vouchers
and discounts can be purchased in the parking office, located in the
basement of the Physicians Office Building, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday- Friday; or in the main lobby from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Monday-Friday, and noon to 8:00 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
