New cell phone application available for iPhone and Android models
The Lifespan Pharmacy at Rhode Island Hospital has
launched a mobile phone application, providing customers with an easier way to refill prescriptions. The new RefillRX app from Rx30 is free on iPhone and
Android phones and allows pharmacy customers to order refill prescriptions for any family member 24 hours a day. A text message will be sent to the mobile
phone associated with the account to notify the customer when the prescription is ready.
“We recognize all of the demands people have on their time, so we wanted to make ordering prescription refills a little bit easier,” said Christine
Collins, director of pharmacy at Rhode Island, The Miriam and Bradley hospitals. “With this app, customers of the Lifespan Pharmacy can order refills on
any current prescription for any member of their household associated with the mobile number they are calling from, and can let the pharmacy know if and
when they’d like to pick up the refill, or if they’d like it shipped to their home.”
Both the app and prescription home delivery are free.
To download the app, go to the app store on your mobile device and search for RefillRX. Once it is downloaded, users must enter the Lifespan Pharmacy phone
number, 401-444-4909, to be connected. Users will receive a prompt to enter optional messages, such as notifying the pharmacy of their preferred pickup
date, or asking to fill all other prescriptions that are also due.
The Lifespan Pharmacy, which opened in May 2013, is located at Rhode Island Hospital in the Davol Building (near the Hasbro Children’s Hospital upper
lobby) at 593 Eddy St., in Providence. The pharmacy is available to the public and is open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 5
p.m. Saturday and Sunday. To learn more about the Lifespan Pharmacy, please call 401-444-4909 or visit www.lifespanpharmacy.org.
