Major Research Programs
- The mission of the Center for Cancer Research Development is to create, interpret and apply new knowledge based on original, collaborative, multidisciplinary laboratory studies of the cellular and molecular pathways leading to carcinoma. Basic knowledge gained will be used to design and implement novel diagnostic and treatment protocols to benefit patients.
- The Vascular Disease Research Center is a center of excellence for peripheral vascular disease research that develops clinical trials and basic science research. The center can help investigators seeking to develop ideas in the vascular disease arena into fundable grant applications either formally with center involvement, or informally.
- The mission of the Division of Surgical Research of the department of surgery is to provide a world-class environment supporting research programs in the surgical sciences focused on trauma, inflammation and critical care. This provides an ideal setting for training the next generation of physician- and PhD-scientists interested in the study of the molecular mechanisms of surgical trauma and inflammatory diseases.
- The Pulmonary Hypertension Clinic participates in more than a dozen nationwide and worldwide
studies for many other therapies, including ambrisentan, inhaled remodulin and
many combination therapy studies.
- The Division of Imaging Research in the department of diagnostic imaging was established in 1990 and provides the expertise to plan, finance, and execute medial imaging-related research trials. In the past, we have participated in federally-funded multicenter trials in cancer prevention, screening, and treatment; research with novel contrast agents for MR imaging, CT, and ultrasound; and trials of devices used in vascular and nonvascular interventional radiology.
