Education

Frederick Burgess, MD, PhD graduated from the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. He subsequently attended Brown University where he received his MD and a PhD degrees in biochemical pharmacology. He completed an internship and anesthesiology residency at the Letterman Army Medical Center, Presidio of San Francisco (clinical scientist track), as well as a research fellowship at the Letterman Army Institute of Research, Presidio of San Francisco. He also completed a post-doctoral fellowship in biochemical pharmacology in the division of biology and medicine, Brown University. Burgess is a past president of the American Academy of Pain Medicine, and is an associate editor for the journal Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine.
