Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)

Rhode Island Hospital, in coordination with The Miriam Hospital, is the first in the state to offer cardiac MRI—a very powerful new tool for evaluating heart disease.
This noninvasive technology allows our physicians to see your heart as it beats in 3-dimensional, movie-like images.

We can image virtually any cardiac condition, measure blood flow, view structures inside and outside the heart and see how all of these functions affect the working of your heart. As a result, we are able to identify many heart conditions earlier than ever before and recommend treatment before problems begin. The images also show the extent of damage caused by disease such as a heart attack and allow us to develop an appropriate treatment plan to prevent further damage.
