we are uniquely positioned to treat acute cardiac patients and trained
to respond to any crisis. Our cardiologists will determine the nature of your
heart problem and treat you in the quickest, most effective way possible. Cardiac care in the emergency room is
facilitated by a specialized cardiac care unit, as well as a dedicated catheterization laboratory for emergency treatment of patients with heart attacks. Our catheterization laboratory is the first in New England to be located directly in the emergency department, thus reducing the amount of transport time and allowing our emergency staff to work more closely with the angioplasty team.
Hasbro Children’s Hospital, our pediatric division, has access to the same advanced technologies and treatments for children. Our children’s emergency department is staffed with specialists in pediatric emergency medicine, many of whom also have specialized training in toxicology, or poisons that children may ingest, as well as public health. Our pediatric cardiologists are always available to work with our pediatric emergency specialists and frequently perform procedures in the Andrew F. Anderson Emergency Center .
