Flow Cytometry
The Fluorescence Activated Cytometry/Sorting (FACS) lab provides simultaneous multiparameter high speed analysis and sorting of cells, cellular organelles, bacteria, and other entities in fluid suspension. We offer a high degree of sensitivity, reproducibility, standardization, and quality control, all of which can be applied to a broad spectrum of specimen types. Examples of specimen types include:
Measurable parameters for high speed analysis include:

Common applications include:cell classification
The flow cytometry lab provides analysis using two types of instrumentation. One is a Becton Dickinson FACSort equipped with an air-cooled argon laser producing fluorescent excitation at 488 nm and featuring a mechanical cell sorting system. The other is a Becton Dickinson FACSVantage SE equipped with a Coherent Enterprise laser producing both 488nm and ultra-violet excitation and featuring an advanced electrostatic sorting system capable of simultaneously sorting two cell populations at the rate of 30,000 cells/second.
