Guiding Our Daughters

These six tips for parenting daughters are just as valid for sons:

Adolescents need relationships and rules. Rules are important, but in the absence of relationships they are hard to enforce.
Validate a girl's adult behavior whenever possible.
Praise honesty and authenticity, rather than popularity.
Encourage educational pursuits and her intellect.
Discuss sexual values and how to handle situations.
Examine your own gender-based assumptions.
