Description
This longitudinal study has been following families where parents
have major depression, bipolar disorder, and anxiety disorders since
children were one year of age. Current assessments are of children
at ten years of age. The focus is on family processes that may facilitate
development of, or protect children against, psychopathology or
other problems in adaptation.
Significance
This line of research will provide basic behavior science information
about the development of children in specific risk circumstances,
and provide information relevant to the development of prevention
programs.
