HIV, Abuse and Psychiatric Disorders Among Youth

Description
This project will demonstrate the impact of a 14-session intervention for improving at-risk adolescents' safer sexual HIV preventive behaviors. The intervention targets emotions and thoughts, particularly relevant for adolescents with psychiatric disorders, especially those with a history of sexual abuse. HIV-related knowledge, attitudes and behaviors are targeted through both didactic and skills-based activities.

Significance
This research can help to reduce the risk of HIV in vulnerable populations, specifically adolescents with psychiatric disorders and those with a history of sexual abuse.
