Christopher Houck, PhD

Background Information

Christopher Houck, PhD, is a licensed clinical psychologist who works primarily with children and families who have both medical issues and psychological concerns.

Houck completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan and received his PhD from the University of Florida. He completed his internship at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (California) and his postdoctoral fellowship at Brown University.

Research Interests

Houck’s current research interests focus on adolescent risk behavior related to the prevention of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections. He is involved in several projects funded by the National Institute of Mental Health and the National Institute on Drug Abuse. These projects study interventions aimed at reducing risk behaviors among adolescents with psychiatric disorders and substance abuse. Houck is particularly interested in the influence of adolescents’ feelings on their decisions in risk situations.
