Celia Lescano, PhD

Background Information

Lescano is a licensed clinical psychologist with an interest in pediatric psychology. She has particular interests in working with children and adolescents who are infected with HIV and with minority/underserved clients.

Lescano completed undergraduate and graduate work at the University of Florida, clinical psychology internship at the University of Miami, and a post-doctoral fellowship at Brown University.

Research Interests

Lescano’s current research interests focus on adolescent risk behaviors, specifically sexual risk behaviors that predispose adolescents to HIV infection.She is involved in several major projects, funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), that focus on adolescents with psychiatric disorders and HIV risk.

As a Hispanic staff member, Lescano also has a Long-term Supplement for Minority Faculty from NIMH in which she will develop a culturally-relevant HIV prevention intervention for Latino families.
