Physician Licensing Requirements
Many states require CME credit for physician licensing. Following
is an outline of local requirements and links to more information.
Rhode Island
A new law requires physicians to renew their applications every
two years beginning July 1, 2004. After July 1, 40 hours of CME
will be required for the 2006 renewal and every two years following.
The July 1, 2004 renewal form will require a demonstration of
60 hours for the preceding three years under the law existing
at the time, all of which have to be Category I AMA approved,
with two of the 60 in Universal Precautions.
