Reduce Your Risk: Prevent Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer develops slowly over time. Before turning to cancer, cells will go through certain changes known as cervical dysplasia. A pap smear is the best way to detect and prevent cervical cancer. Some of the risk factors include:

  • Human papillomavirus
  • Having sexual intercourse before the age of 20
  • Having more than seven full-term pregnancies
  • Using oral contraceptives for more than five years.
  • Smoking
  • Smoking and using oral contraceptives at the same time
  • Poor diet

Knowing the risk factors and receiving pap test can help protect yourself against cervical cancer.
