The Comprehensive Cancer Center
Cancer Data Registry

How the Data Are Used

The precise uses of cancer registry data vary with the needs of cancer programs. Regardless of the particular use, we strictly maintain confidentiality of our patients' identities and their related medical information.

The data are primarily used to:

  • identify cases for clinical assessment;

  • provide follow-up information for care, treatment, survival and early detection of disease recurrence;

  • calculate survival rates by site, stage and other variables;

  • develop criteria and procedures for evaluation of care;

  • analyze referral patterns of cancer care;

  • and identify the needs for future education programs for hospital clinicians, patients and families.
