Information Needed For the Registry

The cancer registry uses strict definitions to ensure accuracy and consistency in data collection. The same information is gathered for each individual case.

  • Demographic information: age, sex, race, ethnicity, birthplace and place of residence

  • Medical history: physical findings, date of original diagnosis, details of any prior treatment

  • Diagnostic findings: dates and results of diagnostic procedures or techniques used to diagnose cancer

  • Diagnosis: primary site, cell type and stage of disease

  • Cancer therapy: surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, hormones, immunotherapy and clinical trials

  • Follow-up: post-treatment therapy, recurrence, quality and length of survival, cause of death
