Thank you for taking the time to learn about the services
offered by Lifespan Laboratories and about the people who provide
them.
One of the most comprehensive, efficient and advanced pathology
centers and clinical laboratories in New England, Lifespan Laboratories
provides test results to physicians throughout Rhode Island, southeastern
Massachusetts and beyond. And our capabilities are growing all
the time. Our dedicated staff of clinical laboratory scientists
and other laboratory personnel are central to our commitment to
continuous quality improvement.
Our surgical pathology division is staffed by pathologists with
subspecialty expertise in a wide range of areas. Our fully automated
core laboratory, one of the region's largest and most sophisticated
testing facilities, sets a new standard for speed and accuracy.
With the launch of the automated lab in 2001, we began dramatically
expanding our outreach program. Today, the program comprises a
network of patient service centers, open during convenient hours,
in medical buildings and other sites around Rhode Island and southeastern
Massachusetts. The number of facilities continues to grow. Couriers
pick up samples and deliver them to our automated lab. Results
are then reported to physicians and other health care providers.
Physicians can access the results immediately if they're registered
with LifeLinks, the most advanced patient data management system
in the area. Lifespan's pioneering LifeLinks system gives health
care providers instant access 24 hours a day to patient information
from virtually anywhere via a secure, confidential wide-area network.
In a single electronic repository, LifeLinks combines information
previously maintained on hundreds of individual computers, including
clinical tests and lab results, medical records from all Lifespan
hospitals, discharge summaries, surgical notes and more. LifeLinks
reports pathology test results in as little as three hours. LifeLinks
also allows you to avoid duplication by checking instantly whether
a critical test has already been ordered.
