Working Together: Leaders in Cardiac Care
Coronary heart disease is the number one killer of Americans, both men and women. Stroke is the third leading cause of death and can cause serious disability. That is why it's important to reduce your risk factors and know the warning signs. The best ways to protect yourself from heart disease are to eat right, get plenty of exercise and, if you smoke, quit. it's also important to be aware of cholesterol levels, body fat and blood pressure.
Throughout the year , Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital sponsor free events to help learn how to safeguard your heart. “Make Sure Your Heart is in the Right Place” featured free health screenings, including blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes and body fat analysis, as well as discussions from leading cardiac physicians on the topics of risk factors and prevention, the latest technology, minimally invasive surgery and how to tell if you are having a heart attack.
"Leaders in Cardiac Care" is a partnership between Lifespan partners Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital. For over 55 years, Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital have provided the most advanced cardiac care available. Supported by teams of nurses, anesthesiologists, dietitians and therapists, our cardiologists and cardiac surgeons care for more than 30,000 patients each year—giving us more experience than all other hospitals in the state combined.
