John
Cronan, MD, is radiologist-in-chief at Rhode Island Hospital and
professor and chair of the department of diagnostic imaging at
Brown Medical School.
An author of more than 100 publications,
Cronan is a nationally recognized expert in the field of
uroradiology, ultrasound, and non-vascular interventional
procedures, particularly image-guided percutaneous needle
biopsies.
The department of diagnostic imaging at
Rhode Island Hospital offers a complete range of diagnostic and
interventional procedures in general radiology and in
subspecialty areas, including cutting-edge techniques, such as
radiofrequency ablation for cancer, CT artery scanning for heart
disease and uterine artery embolization for fibroid tumors, which
are not available elsewhere in the region.
The department's medical staff trains Brown Medical
School residents specializing in diagnostic imaging. The
residency program was recently ranked in the top 7 percent of all
programs by the American Board of Radiology.
