Georg Noren, MD, PhD, is the primary neurosurgeon responsible for patient treatment at the New England Gamma Knife Center.

Since 1974, Noren's expertise and personal dedication in the area of Gamma Knife technique has been recognized worldwide. Born in Sweden, he received his medical degree in 1971 and extensive training from the birthplace of the Gamma Knife: the Karolinska Institute.

Noren's clinical work and research cover almost all areas and applications of Gamma Knife technology. His extensive research on the role of the Gamma Knife for the treatment of benign tumors of the hearing nerve, called acoustic neuromas, has earned him a reputation as an internationally renowned expert on this relatively common disease.

Much of this work has been done in close collaboration with Dr. Leksell, the inventor of the Gamma Knife and radiosurgery.
