Reaching for a Cure: HIV and AIDS
The Centers for AIDS Research
As we are all painfully aware, the HIV/AIDS epidemic has devastated populations throughout the world. The Miriam Hospital serves as the primary contracting institution for the Centers for AIDS Research (CFAR) project that works towards advancing the treatment of HIV and AIDS.
The CFAR is part of a national program begun by the National Institutes of Health in 1988. There are currently 19 Centers for AIDS Research (CFARs) located at academic medical centers throughout the United States
The Miriam Hospital also take part in the CFAR International Program. This program involves six countries, including Cambodia, India, Indonesia, South Africa, The Philippines, and Kenya.
