Minimally Invasive Surgery

Smaller Is Better

The Miriam Hospital offers minimally invasive (laparoscopic) surgery as an option for patients who would benefit from it. Minimally invasive surgery differs from traditional, open surgery in that it involves smaller incisions, which have been shown to decrease discomfort and significantly shorten recovery times following surgery.

In our state-of–the art operating rooms, The Miriam’s minimally invasive surgery team offers a variety of procedures:

Bariatric (Weight Loss) Surgery

Cardiovascular Surgery

Colon and Rectal Surgery

Gastrointestinal and General Surgery

The minimally invasive surgery program is directed by Siva Vithiananthan, MD.
