The Mission and Vision of Our Program
The mission of The Miriam Hospital Continuing Medical Education program is to enhance the competency and performance of healthcare professionals through educational activities that target gaps in medical knowledge, attitudes, and skills and to convert this knowledge into evidence-based practice, thereby improving treatment outcomes, cost effective healthcare, and the health status of the community we serve.
As an academic teaching hospital of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, our hospital mission is to “Inspire one another to improve the health and spirit of the lives we touch.” The Miriam Hospital will be accomplishing its mission by the commitment to advancing the care we provide through education and pursuit of new knowledge. The Miriam Hospital CME activities, to include primary care, specialty and subspecialty topics that involve the body of knowledge and skills generally recognized and accepted by the profession as within the basic medical sciences in the field of medicine and surgery and are presented by recognized experts in clinical care and research who are dedicated to advancing medicine and improving patient care. We utilize multiple methods and innovational media formats to present educational conferences and workshops, including scheduled-live and archived activities, case conferences as well as on-line learning and training.
We strive to:
- develop a CME program that serves as a model of excellence;
- comply with the essentials established by the ACCME in an exemplary
manner;
- provide uniformly excellent, commercially unbiased educational
activities;
- meet the educational needs of the entire medical staff.
