  • Thoracic Aortic Center

  • At our state-of-the-art thoracic aortic center, cardiologists, radiologists, vascular surgeons and other specialists work together to determine the best treatment for our patients. We designed the thoracic aortic center with specially dedicated beds and facilities, and the center is staffed by experienced cardiac nurses, physician assistants and nurse practitioners who work under a team of physicians.

Our thoracic aortic surgery program is extensive, encompassing the medical and surgical management of complex thoracoabdominal aneurysm to aortic root replacement with preservation of the valve, as well as treatment of acute and traumatic dissection of the aorta. We are available at any moment to treat patients with an acute aortic dissection. We have repaired many descending aortic aneurysms using endovascular stent placement without opening the chest. This decreases the morbidity as well as the length of the hospital stay for such patients and allows them to return to normal activities sooner. We are often able to save a patient's valves during Type-A dissections and chronic aneurysms by preservation of the native aortic valve. Our cardiac surgical team is also experienced at replacing the entire thoracic aorta.

We also employ techniques such as total body cooling, excellent brain activity monitoring and minimal blood utilization, all contributing to our highly successful results.
