  • Workforce S.T.A.T. (Solutions, Training and Teamwork) Program

  • The Workforce S.T.A.T. program is designed, in partnership with the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College, to alleviate the needs of the health care industry and our local community by transitioning unemployed or underemployed Rhode Islanders into prepared certified nursing assistants (CNAs). Upon completion of this five-month stipend internship, participants earn their Rhode Island CNA license and work readiness credentials. Qualified candidates may be considered for future employment at a Lifespan affiliate or Summit Commons Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center. Eligible participants must be at least 18 years of age, have a general educational development (GED) certificate or a high school diploma, and possess a strong interest in health care along with the ability to commit to program design/schedule.

    Program Description

    The Workforce S.T.A.T. (Solutions, Training and Teamwork) Program participants are provided with:

    • An 8-week CNA course offered by Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College leading to state-administered exam and licensure
    • Followed by a 6-week internship at Lifespan consisting of 60 hours of advanced CNA training and structured work-readiness workshops
    • Practical work experience while earning a $1000 stipend
    • Networking opportunities to prepare for a successful future
    • Mentorship under professional career experts
    • The possibility of employment upon completion of the program

    Eligibility

    Participants must:

    • Be at least 18 years of age
    • Have at least a high school diploma or a general educational development (GED) certificate
    • Be underemployed/unemployed Rhode Island residents
    • Possess a willingness to learn along with the ability to commit to a program design or schedule
    • Be interested in pursuing a career in health care
