Rhode Island Hospital's senior vice president and chief nursing officer, Jane Metzger, RN, DNSc, received a New York Times Job Market Tribute to Nurses award.
Hospital Named Top Instensive Care Unit
Rhode Island Hospital's medical intensive care unit was named one of the top intensive care units in the country by the National Coalition on Health Care and the Institute for Healthcare Improvement.
Most Wired Award
Lifespan has been cited by the journal of the American Hospital Association for its use of Internet technologies to improve patient care. Hospitals & Health Networks (H&HN) annually surveys the nation's health care systems on their use of high-tech communications, and its "Most Wired" status is awarded to what they call "technically savvy" hospitals. This is the fourth year that H&HN has conducted the Most Wired Survey and Benchmarking Study, polling hospitals and health systems on their use of Internet-based technologies to better serve employees and patients.
VHA Northeast Leadership Innovation Award
IT Innovation Award honors VHA Northeast organizations exhibiting leadership and innovation while implementing information technology improvements that make a significant difference and are widely diffused throughout the organization.
Innovation of the Year Award
Rhode Island Hospital received the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives Innovation of the Year Award. This award honors and recognizes healthcare CIOs who use IT applications in creative and exciting new ways in their organizations.
Consumer Choice Award
Rhode Island Hospital is the only hospital in Rhode Island to receive the Consumer Choice Award from the National Research Corporation. This is the eighth year in a row Rhode Island Hospital has received this award.
