Rhode Island Hospital was awarded by The US Department of Health and Human Services for its consistent high rate of organ donation for three quarters of 2005, scoring 69 percent. One of only nine hospitals nationwide that scored between 65 percent and 75 percent in successful organ donations.

The Medical Intensive Care Unit at Rhode Island Hospital was the honoree of Cirle of Life Award given by the American Hospital Association. One of only ten organizations from across the country were honored by this award.
