  1. Which hospitals are involved in the merger?
    The hospitals involved from Lifespan are Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children's Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Bradley Hospital, and Newport Hospital. The hospitals involved from Care New England are Women & Infants' Hospital, Kent Hospital and Butler Hospital. It also includes Care New England's VNA.

  2. What will the new system be called?
    The new system will be called Lifespan.

  3. Who will lead the new system?
    Current Lifespan president and CEO George Vecchione will be president and CEO for the merged system. John Hynes, curretly president and CEO of Care New England, will become senior vice president for special projects.

  4. What happens next?
    Following the execution of the affiliation agreement, there will be a 120-day period of due diligence between the parties. At the same time, Lifespan and Care New England will pursue the needed regulatory approvals from the Rhode Island Department of Health and the attorney general, as well as federal approval from the Federal Trade Commission.

  5. Are there plans to close hospitals or eliminate services?
    There are no plans to close any hospital or eliminate any service.

  6. I have donated to the hospitals involved or am planning to make a donation. How will this affect where my money goes?
    All donations made before or after the merger will remain with the hospital or affiliate they were donated to.
