Patient Tracking

Rhode Island Hospital and Newport Hospital have patient tracking systems in their Emergency departments.

MedHost allows staff to enter patient information and follow patients through the ED. With icons, colors and alerts, staff can quickly see:

• how many patients are waiting to be seen.
• how long each patient has been waiting.
• how many/which patients are in each treatment area.
• how long each patient has been in each treatment area.
• which physician is caring for each patient.
• which tests each patient has had/needs to have.
• a patient's medical history.
• if the patient has family waiting.

Each time a patient is moved to another area for treatment or testing, the transfer is entered into MedHost. With just a touch of a laptop screen, the patient's information is kept current.
