  • All for One: Domenic Tortolano

  • As an infant, Domenic Tortolano was treated at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Below, his mother, Aimee, shares her family's story and celebrates the health of Domenic and his twin sister.

Domenic, a healthy patientI would like to take the opportunity to thank your staff for all of the wonderful things that they do for our community and the children that are treated at Hasbro each and every day. There is an amazing sense of caring and family every time I walk through the door with my son.

I have a set of fraternal twins (boy and girl) who are now 16 months old. My son would not be here today if it wasn't for your amazing staff of nurses and doctors when he was 10 days old. He was diagnosed with a severe case of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus) and we were told the only thing on his side was his size (he was 7lbs, 2oz at birth). When my husband and I brought him into the hospital, the medical team immediately kicked into action and helped us by making us feel like everything was going to be okay.

After being in the PICU for a number of days, my husband called a pediatrician in Massachusetts and asked if we should consider having our son transported to Boston, as we were so concerned about him not being able to breathe. We were told adamantly, No! Hasbro knows what it's doing, and has this infection under control better than Boston would.

We have been back to Hasbro many other times with him, mostly for RSV and asthma issues. I think there are so many reasons to choose Hasbro: they saved my son!
