Internship Training ProgramThe Centers play a pivotal role in research training for predoctoral interns in the Brown University Clinical Psychology Training Consortium. The Brown consortium, recently named the top in the country by the American Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy, trains 18 clinical psychology interns at the pre-doctoral level in four tracks (health psychology /behavioral medicine, adult, child, and neuropsychology). Four interns are recruited into the health psychology/behavioral medicine track, coordinated by Justin Nash, Ph.D. In addition to receiving clinical training, these interns devote 10-15% of their time in year-long research placements and 10% time in seminars. The Centers sponsors grant-funded research placements with Centers' faculty serving as research mentors. Centers' faculty also lead seminars. In their research placements in the Centers, interns function as active members of research teams. Their efforts are acknowledged with conference presentations and journal publications. Research placements are a starting point for subsequent full-time research training as a fellow in the Centers post-doctoral fellowship program.
