Child and Adolescent Services
Residential Treatment
About the CRAFT Program
The Children's Residential and Family Treatment (CRAFT) Program's
primary goal is to reunite children who have emotional and behavioral
disabilities with their families. Most children immediately rejoin
their families upon leaving CRAFT, but some children are placed
in interim foster care or long-term residential care prior to returning
home. CRAFT is a family-centered program and draws strength from
its partnerships with families, other treatment providers, community
resources and schools to address the special needs of the children.
Individual, group and family therapy, family support services, therapeutic
milieu services, psychoeducation and psychopharmacology are all
used to treat children in CRAFT.
CRAFT's Staff
Professionals from many disciplines work with families to achieve
CRAFT's goals. The program's staff includes residential counselors,
psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, social workers and support
staff. In addition, trainees from various disciplines may also be
involved in providing treatment, as Bradley Hospital is a teaching
hospital for Brown Medical School.
Eligibility for CRAFT
Children ages 4 to 12 years whose serious psychiatric problems
cannot be safely managed at home are eligible for CRAFT. Children
in CRAFT often have significant problems at home or school.
