Objectives of Exeter House

The objectives of Exeter House are:

  • To provide a therapeutic residential placement for children who require constant out-of-home care

  • To provide a full range of treatment services including behavior management, individual, group and family therapy, medication, case management, therapeutic recreation and outreach to schools and community youth organizations

  • To assist in transitioning children from an inpatient psychiatric hospital setting to a less restrictive placement or to divert children who are at less serious risk for psychiatric hospitalizations

  • To provide assessment and diagnosis of complex psychiatric conditions in children including mood, anxiety and other psychiatric disorders as well as treatment of trauma, which may be the result of physical, emotional or sexual abuse

  • To develop and review discharge plans on a monthly basis and to create viable social service networks for each family

  • To reunite children with their families within 12 months
