Parenting With Humor and Optimism

Sit down!” “Stop it!” “Clean your room!” “Don’t use my good scissors!” Sound familiar? Believe it or not, it is possible to raise a responsible human being using optimism, joy and good humor.

Loretta Laroche is an international stress management and humor consultant who uses optimistic psychology to positively affect the health of others. She is the founder and president of The Humor Potential, Inc, a company offering programs and products for lifestyle management. Organizations, such as IBM, Microsoft and NASA, use her prescription for laughter to help manage stress and improve morale in the workplace.

She has appeared on PBS, CNN, ABC and NBC, and has been nominated for local and primetime Emmy Awards. She has authored numerous books including, The Joy Journal; Relax: You May Only Have a Few Minutes Left; Life is Not a Stress Rehearsal; Life Is Short—Wear Your Party Pants; and Kick Up Heels Before You’re Too Short to Wear Them. She writes a weekly newspaper column called “Get a Life,” is a contributing writer for Diane Magazine, and is featured as a stress management expert on www.lluminari.com and www.eons.com.
