There are more treatment options for breast cancer than ever before and making decisions about your treatment can be overwhelming. At the Comprehensive Cancer Center, we understand how difficult this process can be. Our care team works with you every step of the way to formulate a treatment plan that's best suited to your breast cancer and your preferences.
Our multidisciplinary team reviews your medical tests, medical history, family history and any prior cancer treatments. Factors that are taken into consideration include your type of breast cancer and its stage, your overall health, whether you have gone through menopause, whether the cancer cells are sensitive to hormones, and genetic aspects of the disease.
Your treatment plan may include radiation therapy, chemotherapy, hormone therapy, surgery to remove tumors, or some combination of these. Depending on the treatment plan, your care team may include a radiation oncologist, a medical oncologist and a surgeon.
Your care team will meet with you to discuss your preferences and recommend a course of treatment. As you undergo treatment, we will update your doctor on your progress. When your treatment is completed, we will send your doctor a comprehensive summary of your treatment history and a plan for all follow-up care.
