  • Active Latinos at Lifespan

  • Active Latinos At Lifespan (ALL) was formed in May 2005 by the diversity office and is run by Lifespan employees with support and assistance from the diversity office. ALL's executive sponsor is Mark Montella, senior vice president for government relations at Lifespan. The purpose of ALL is to foster full utilization of every employee's talents, to provide unique cultural perspectives to Lifespan on various issues, to promote professional development of members, and to participate in programs that benefit the community. Membership in ALL is opened to all employees regardless of ethnic and cultural background.

Membership provides a vehicle for employees to:

    • Interact with diverse colleagues
    • Work with senior management to ensure that Hispanic/Latino employees have access to career advancement
    • Promote cultural competence in employee and patient relations
    • Help the community
    • Address other issues of concern to Hispanic/Latino employees

Since its formation in 2005, ALL has organized several programs including:

    • Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at Rhode Island Hospital's George Auditorium where there was a complete demonstration of the coming of age celebration known in Spanish as "Quinceñera" where those in attendance had the opportunity to hear three dynamic speakers
    • Get-to-know-you lunch and brainstorming sessions where attendees discussed issues of most concern to Hispanic/Latino employees at Lifespan
    • A breakfast with a delegation of high-ranking officials from the Dominican Republic
    • Career development events at Rhode Island and The Miriam hospitals
    • A reception to welcome Juan Bellido, Esq., associate general counsel and the highest ranking Latino at Lifespan
