    Rochelle Rosen, PhD, is a medical anthropologist and an assistant professor in the Department of Community Health at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University and The Miriam Hospital.   She is also affiliated faculty at the International Health Institute of Brown University. She received her PhD in anthropology from Brown University and completed postdoctoral training in behavioral medicine at the Centers. Her research interests are focused in two areas: 1) HIV-prevention for women via vaginal microbicide acceptability; and 2) preventive health care issues in the South Pacific island of American Samoa. She specializes in using qualitative methods in multidisciplinary project teams to collect formative and evaluative data on people's health care experiences. Recent projects include qualitative translational research to help design and implement a community-based intervention on diabetes in American Samoa, and the cultural and linguistic translation of an assessment of alcohol and drug use into Samoan.
