NIH recognizes the need to promote diversity in the biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research workforce. In response to this need, the Lifespan/Tufts/Brown CFAR would like to announce the availability of CFAR Minority Travel Scholarship Awards to minority faculty members or trainees in the area of HIV and AIDS research that are affiliated with this CFAR. For this program minority status will be recognized as Black/African American and Hispanic/Latino.

The purpose of these awards is to foster and support laboratory and clinical research related to HIV and AIDS among minority faculty and trainees. These awards can be used to pay for travel for collaborative meetings to other academic centers, CFARs, or meetings with other researchers for the purpose of developing future HIV/AIDS related research proposals for NIH and other federal funding agencies.

CFAR has set aside $7,500 annually to support up to 5 awards of $1,500 per award per year. Interested applicants must complete an application form and return to the CFAR administrator at least 2 months prior to proposed travel dates. Each application will be reviewed by the CFAR Minority Working Group for approval. If awarded, applicants will be required to submit actual expense receipts for reimbursement. Awards will not exceed $1,500.

Any further questions should be addressed to Vicki Godleski, CFAR Administrator. She can be reach via email at vgodleski@lifespan.org or by phone at 401-793-4068.
