Mince garlic. Heat oil on medium. Add garlic and reduce heat to med -low. Cook garlic until golden (2-3 minutes).
Add clams with some clam juice (you can add whatever amount of clam juice you like) and the tomato sauce. Stir and heat through.
Optional ingredients: Spices can be added to the oil; if you use spinach, add it to the oil and heat until wilted (3-4 minutes); if you use olives, you can add at any point. Serves 2.
