ExxonMobil and The Genesis Fund, a nonprofit dedicated to raising funds for the innovative programs that care for children with complex genetic disorders, are launching a collaborative fundraising campaign, Fill Up For Kids. Starting September 9, 2013, at participating Exxon- and Mobil-branded stations across New England, customers will be able to purchase a paper teddy bear as a direct donation to The Genesis Fund. Also as way of participating, some locations will donate a portion of its sales from fuel purchases. The donations raised in Rhode Island will go directly toward the division of genetics at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
"We are extremely grateful to The Genesis Fund for supporting clinical services at Hasbro Children’s Hospital that are important for patients with genetic and metabolic conditions," said Dr. Chanika Phornphutkul, a pediatric endocrinologist. "These patients have lifelong challenges, and the support will allow us to provide resources including genetic and nutritional counseling, local support groups, and special food or formula that families might not be able to afford. We will also create opportunities for patients and families to participate in national meetings or camps related to their conditions."
The Executive Director of The Genesis Fund, Erica D’Agostino, is looking forward to turning the Fund’s longstanding support from ExxonMobil into a fundraising opportunity. "This campaign has the potential to raise much needed funds for children with special needs, and we are thrilled to be able to give this money back to children in Rhode Island. We hope this campaign will provide resources for these children for many years to come."
"This is an opportunity for ExxonMobil, together with our branded wholesalers and other suppliers of our branded fuels, to help children in need," said Phil Hayes, northeast area manager at ExxonMobil. "It’s not every day that we can enrich the lives of children who have incredibly complex genetic disorders and we are hoping that drivers throughout New England will join with us."
Shortly after Anthony Gallonio’s daughter, Grace, celebrated her first birthday in 2010, the young child was diagnosed with a rare form of pediatric cancer at Hasbro Children’s Hospital. During the two months she spent at our hospital, there were days when her parents were unsure whether she’d take her next breath. Today, nearly three years later, Grace is a happy and healthy toddler—something her parents attribute to the world class treatment provided by Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
As a way to give back and help other children and families dealing with cancer, Anthony and his wife Michelle established the National GRACE (Growing, Recovering and Achieving a College Education) Foundation in 2011 to provide free college consulting services to pediatric cancer patients to help cancer survivors realize the dream of attending college.
On Saturday, September 21, the National GRACE Foundation will raise funds for Hasbro Children’s Hospital during its inaugural “RIde Against Cancer” event. Beginning at Chariho High School at 453 Switch Road, Wood River Junction, RI, at 9 a.m. (registration opens at 7 a.m.), “RIde Against Cancer” will offer participants their choice of two scenic bike rides through southwestern Rhode Island. There will be a 65-mile route and a 35-mile route. The first 100 registrants will receive an exclusive “RIde” T-shirt.
To get involved with the event as a participant or volunteer, visit http://www.firstgiving.com/nationalgracefoundation/the-ride-against-cancer or contact Anthony Gallonio at 401-793-6337 or email@example.com.
Marc Carrier’s life changed forever when his 14-year-old brother, Steven Francis Carrier, died from a brain tumor in 1975. As a result, Marc and his family now want to help other local families facing childhood cancer. On Saturday, September 28, at 1 p.m., Marc and his family will host the “St. Francis Golf Invitational” at Triggs Memorial Golf Course at 1533 Chalkstone Avenue in Providence. All proceeds from the event will directly support cancer care at Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Following the golf tournament, there will be a buffet-style Texas barbecue. The cost to participate is $115 per golfer or $460 for a foursome. The price includes 18 holes of golf, the use of a golf cart, and dinner. Those interested in attending the dinner only may do so for a $25 donation.
If you’d like more information, or to register as a participant or RSVP for the dinner, please contact Marc Carrier at 401-345-8504 or Matthew Netto of Hasbro Children’s Hospital at 401-444-6192 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
you for taking the time to read about our story. My inspiration for
doing this CD is my daughter, Gabrielle. She was diagnosed with Crohn's
disease [three years ago] at the age of7. The staff at Hasbro has been
tremendous to us, from the doctors, nurses and entire staff. Crohn's
disease has no cure but our family believes that with enough support,
that will change in the future. Gabrielle recently had her 10th birthday
and handles everything like a pro. This is the least I could do as a
father to help her and other kids that are learning to live ·with this
The CD is a mix of ballads, mid tempo and hard rock turres. the album
was officially released on April23, 2013. I have begun taking orders
through my website and, to date, have already raised close to $1000 for
Hasbro. We appreciate any support from our Hasbro family.
Capture the Moment Photography is excited to announce the Dream BIG Calendar 2013! Inspiring all of us to dream BIG, this first annual charity calendar theme is "Imagine", and ALL profits from calendar sales are being donated to The Hasbro Children’s Hospital!
The calendar will feature children from Rhode Island and surrounding areas that have been transformed into beautiful fairies and mystical elves. Local families are encouraged to share their little inspirations with us... perhaps because you are personally grateful for the resources of the Hasbro Children’s Hospital... or maybe because you are simply grateful just to know the hospital has helped so many children. Let these little faces inspire you every day!
