Orthopedic physicians at Rhode Island Hospital and its Hasbro Children's Hospital, and The Miriam Hospital and Newport Hospital provide diagnostic, medical and surgical treatment for injuries and disorders of the musculoskeletal system.
The hospitals offer a variety of orthopedic services and many outpatient settings for pediatric and adult patients. Our physicians are experts in services such as adult reconstructive surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery, arthroscopic surgery, pediatric orthopedics, treatment for spinal conditions, sports medicine, complete management of simple and complex fractures, incomplete bone healing, bone deformities and bone infections, and bone and soft tissue tumors.
The Miriam Hospital was one of the first hospitals in the state to pioneer the use of ceramic-to-ceramic hip replacements, a longer-lasting alternative to the conventional metal-to-polyurethane joint. The first artificial disk replacement in Rhode Island was also performed at the hospital in 2005, relieving the chronic, disabling pain of degenerative disk disease.
Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital are proud to be teaching hospitals for The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
