  • Gun Safety Tips

  • Lock it up for safety.A gun in the home can be particularly dangerous for young children, who can unintentionally hurt themselves-in 1994, more than 1,300 children died from being unintentionally shot with a firearm. Guns can also be dangerous for teens who may be going through typical adolescent problems and may feel as though life is not worth living.

Each year, more people die from firearm-related suicides than firearm-related homicides. The best idea is not to keep a firearm in a home with children, but if you must have a gun in the home, we recommend these steps for safe storage:

    • store your handgun and ammunition separately
    • lock up the ammunition
    • use a trigger lock or locked box to store the handgun
