Hospital Accommodations
Accomodations for Families
We encourage parents of our patients to take part in making health
care decisions for their child by working closely with your child's
health care team.
Parents are welcome to stay with their child 24 hours a day. Your
child's room accommodates one parent with private shower/toilet
facilities, a chair that converts to a single bed, linens and towels.
At times, children are placed in one of our semiprivate rooms.
If you are not able to stay with your child, you may call the nurses'
station on your child's floor for an update
on his or her condition. If your child's medical condition is stable
and you are available, we also encourage you to accompany your child
to services such as lab, x-ray, or physical therapy.
Parents' Lounge
A parents' lounge is located at the entrance of each patient floor.
Each lounge has a sitting area and kitchenette, where self-service
coffee and tea are available. Two public phones are located just
outside each lounge.
A Change of Scenery—Our Pediatric Garden
Sometimes a change of scenery can bring a much-needed change of
pace to a hospitalized child. The pediatric garden is located on
the garden level, and features a trellised walkway, fountain, story-telling
area, and a full size fire truck. The garden also features a swing
that will accommodate a child in a wheelchair, as well as a handicapped
accessible basketball hoop.
The garden is open during daylight hours, weather permitting, in
the warmer months of the year, and also contains a gazebo and a
picnic shelter. Your child might also enjoy a visit to our interactive
fountain, dolphin water sculpture, hospital cafeteria, gift shop
or lobby.
Please be sure to check with your child's nurse before leaving
the floor, in case a test, therapy or meal is scheduled.
