The Amazing Gift Annuity
One Gift, Five Benefits
A charitable gift annuity is a simple, two-page contract in which a donor makes a personally significant gift and receives an income-for-life in exchange. The first gift annuity agreement in America dates back to the 1840s. Each of our hospital foundations offer gift annuity agreements as members of the American Council of Gift Annuities.
One gift (suggested minimum is $10,000) creates five benefits:
- It provides a regular, fixed income annuity for up to two persons' lifetimes.
- There is a charitable deduction for a significant portion of the gift.
- The annuity is partially tax-free for a period of years.
- If it is funded with appreciated stock, there is favorable treatment of gains.
- The annuity funds an endowment gift in your name.
The gift annuity program for our hospitals started in 1992 with gift amounts ranging from $10,000 to $500,000.
The fixed annuity rate a person receives is based upon his or her age at the time the gift annuity is created. Below is a recent listing of our single-life gift annuity rates:
