Volunteer Opportunities

Food and Beverage Crew—12 Volunteers Needed!

Sunday, October 4, 2009
Time: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Prepare and serve food during the event.
  • Assist food vendors, set up and clean up food area. 
  • Manage refreshment lines.

Greet & Cheer Crew—6 Volunteers Needed!

Sunday, October 4, 2009
Time:  7 a.m. – 12 noon

  • Welcome walkers, friends, family and vendors as they arrive at The Walk: Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
  • Answer general event questions and cheer walkers on as they cross the finish line.
  • Help us to create a friendly and cheerful welcome at The Walk.

Medical Crew—20 Volunteers Needed!

Time: 7 a.m. – 3 p.m.

  • Provide first aid to walkers, staff, volunteers and vendors at The Walk.
  • Volunteers should be trained to provide first aid and certified to administer CPR if necessary.

Parking Crew—8 Volunteers Needed!

Time:  7 a.m. – 12 noon

  • Place parking signage early on Sunday morning.
  • Direct walkers into appropriate parking areas.
  • Volunteers should feel comfortable directing traffic and answering general event questions about The Walk.

Registration Crew—20 Volunteers Needed!

Time: 7 a.m. – 12 noon

  • Assist with collection of money and registrations at The Walk. 
  • Check-in walkers, collect contributions and distribute t-shirts.
  • Clean-up registration station and supplies.
  • Learn registration process to be able to answer general event related questions.  We will train all volunteers on the registration process and frequently asked questions.
  • We will rely on volunteers to help us create a friendly environment and troubleshoot!

Rest Stop Crew—30 Volunteers Needed!

Time:  7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Unload and set up water.
  • Set up tables and chairs, hang sponsor signs.
  • Cheer on walkers as they stop and pass.
  • Load water and supplies into truck once walkers have passed.
  • Please note that this role may require some lifting and a familiarity with the route.

Route Marshall Crew—45 Volunteers Needed!

Time:  7 a.m. – 2 p.m.

  • Direct walkers to registration and starting line prior to The Walk. 
  • Assist Walkers with direction along route, crossing intersections, and attend to their safety during The Walk.
  • Sweep route for stragglers and trash.
  • Volunteers should be familiar with the route, rest stops and medical locations.

Start & Finish Line Crew—6 Volunteers Needed!

Time: 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • Set-up and breakdown cones, fencing and banners for The Walk.
  • Manage walkers at start and direct walkers at the finish.
  • Volunteers will be working in a busy, high-energy area and should feel comfortable directing traffic.

Volunteer Check-in Crew—6 Volunteers Needed!

Time: 7am – 12pm

  • Set-up volunteer check-in, greet volunteers, check them in and hand out t-shirts.
  • We need support in creating a friendly atmosphere by having volunteers who are able to troubleshoot and be knowledgeable about the event’s volunteer details.
