Animal Visiting Program and Hospital Zoo

Some of our volunteers have four legs.Dogs love kids. And kids love dogs and reptiles and insects.

Hasbro Children's Hospital is proud of its Animal Visiting Program, which includes the world's very first in-hospital zoo!

With its convenient location in the hospital lobby, patients and their families can visit the zoo and marvel at the small wonders of nature anytime the mood strikes. They can also enjoy a visit from the Roger Williams Park Zoomobile during one of its frequent rounds at the hospital.

A volunteerOur Animal Visiting Program gets a thumbs up.Our team of volunteer dog owners are on hand to roam the halls with four-legged friends, making stops in both inpatient and outpatient areas with the tirelessly loving canines. These steadfast volunteers visit regularly, giving patients a chance to play with their favorite pooches throughout their hospital stay.

Child life services staff and pet owner volunteers strictly supervise the program. All visiting animals must pass a health screening and are fully vaccinated. Visiting dogs and their owners receive proper training and must be certified by Therapy Dog International.
